Post Pastiche

Last spring I had a project where I needed to imitate an illustrator and master a style or technique they use. I choose to do David Downton, he was born in the UK and worked for Vogue. His style looked like something I wanted to learn. He adds so much detail to certain areas of his work but leaves a lot to the mind of the viewer. I have posted my version and his original, try and guess.

Twiggy is labeled, but mine is the one on the right.
Black charcoal, marker and water colour.

Mine is the one on the left.
Water colour and a black marker.

The one on the right is mine.
Pencil crayons blended with a clear solvent.

My Don Draper is on the right.
I used a black marker and a dark grey pencil crayon (shading the hair.)

Mine is on the right. She was my favorite to do.
Pencil crayon, clear solvent and black marker.
