Prepare your fabric so you rectangles are 25 x 50 cm and 40 x 30 cm. Place a line in the middle of the 25 x 50 cm piece creating even squares, this line is your center front and grain line.
Mark mannequins with pins as guide points:
- 3cm down from center front
- 4.5cm down from there, place draping tape horizontally
- 4 cm down, along shoulder line.
Fold 2.5 cm under the on the longest side of the 25 x 50 piece. Pin this fold to the tape line you have just placed. put a pin in the neck,
Trim down cf line a small amount and pin the shoulder line. Gather the fabric with your fingers to be between the two guide points you created. pin fabric in and mark where the top pin is. This is your neck line.
Next mark your shoulder and armholes.
I trimmed away some excess fabric from the neck line and folded under the rest. I was not happy with the shape of the neck so I marked the correct shaping I desired.
Remove pins used to gather and trim away all extra fabric.
Trace off fabric to create pattern piece. Add seam allowance.
Now it is time to create the part that twists. Use the second piece of fabric and fold 2.5cm down on the longer side. This is your center front. Pin fabric down cf, insuring you have at least 2.5cm below the waist seam. Pin side seam and yoke line as well.
There will be extra fabric that you will use to create a dart. Pin along dart as if you were sewing it, Mark dart, yoke line, side seam and waist with pen.
Now it is time to make the pattern. When the dart in closed, cut the excess off so you have a straight, even line. This will be your fold line. Your grain line will be perpendicular to the fold.
Add seam allowance and notches where yoke line was.
Now it is time to sew.
Stitch along the the center front seam to the notch. Press seam open. This will create a very weird shape with a hole in it. Don't worry, it is supposed to look this way.
With right sides together sew yoke onto body until the notch.
Now you will feed the yoke through the hole and continue sewing from that notch the the armhole.
The outcome gives you a twisted look.
