I learnt what cyanotype was in about 10th grade. For two years after that, I used cyanotype on a weekly basis, on my journal pages, on fabric and even some English assignments. I have been trying to find some ever since. It is made up of two chemicals, ammonium iron citrate and potassium ferricyanide. My teacher for those 3 years ordered it special and mixed it him self.
Below is a basic cyanotype print with a small amount of pencil crayon shading and magazine cut outs pasted on top. To do a print like this is very simple. You spread the chemical and place objects on top. Then you expose the piece to light and the color of the cyanotype temporarily changes. You then was the chemical off and leave it to dry. afterwards it will look similar to the one below. This is a very interesting process and I miss doing it. If any one can tell me where I can find this beautiful product, please let me know.
