Stand up Collar

Start with the muslin 4 inches up from the center front neck line.
Pin along neck and down shoulder smoothing out all bumps.
Move center front line ¼ inch away from center front to help collar stand up on its own.
Slash 3 inches down from neck line to help smooth out the bumps that was just created
Mark neck line and trim 1 inch above the neck.





Place a pin to hold the temporary tuck at the curve of the neck. This will give the collar some body and help it stand on its own.
Smooth muslin around neck and shoulder and re pin.
Remove the temporary pin tuck.
Mark the neckline and the shoulder line.






 Mark ¾ inch down from the highest point on shoulder and slash to this point.
Mark ½ inch back on the neckline and draw a guide line. This will help open up the neck shape.
Trim all excess fabric, leaving 1 cm seam allowance.




Pin muslin 2 inches up from center back neck line.
Pin along shoulder smoothing out bumps.
Pin ¼ inch dart of at the neck line. This will help create shape to the collar.



    




Mark the neck line and shoulder.
Mark ¾ inch down from highest point on the shoulder, this should match to front.








 Slash to this mark. and pin shoulder together. 








Mark ½ inch away from the shoulder/neck line. This will help make the collar stand up.
Trim excess fabric, keeping the neck line level to the front.








Now you just trace off your pattern, smooth out your seams and walk it off.
